| Happi Tummi® : About Us | |||||
The company’s founder, Nanette, had a baby girl in 2003. The infant had colic, with days and nights of crying spells and discomfort. Doctors suggested various over-the-counter oral remedies, but the remedies didn’t offer any relief for the colic. She sought the advice of multiple pediatricians, general practitioners, herbalists, and alternative medicine practitioners, always without any long-term success. The doctors advised Nanette that the condition would resolve itself in about 3-4 months. She would have to ride it out. Nanette refused to see her baby suffer. The child’s colic also stressed and exhausted the family. Every available product was tried and failed to be reliably effective. The ingestible gas drops and fluids were a frustration to administer, and the results were disappointing. Determined to treat the colic, Nanette invented her own remedy using a combination of “old wives” remedies. Nanette created a binding wrap around the baby’s abdomen as used in her own Latin family, together with heat application as used in the health industry and soothing herbs as used in ancient times, to treat the colic. Thrilled that she now had discovered a solution which really worked, she shared her invention with her pediatrician and other mothers. The “Happi Tummi® wrap was successful for others and soon gained the endorsement of pediatricians, lactation consultants, nurses, doulas, chiropractors, and other practitioners across the country. Aware that colic and fussiness is universal, Nanette decided to share her product with the world of parents and caregivers. Her goal is to relieve fussy babies and calm their caregivers worldwide, one baby at a time. Convinced that colic and fussiness can provoke “shaken baby syndrome”, Nanette donates a portion of revenues to child abuse prevention programs. It is her hope that the broad use of Happi Tummi® will greatly reduce, if not eliminate, child abuse. Launched just 2 years ago at the ABC Kids Expo, Happi Tummi® can now be found in over 100 boutiques, as well as hospital gift shops, grocery stores, and on the web.
